Gorgeous Sexy Smart

From Carla

Thank you all for your wonderful support! It means a lot to me!As a small child, I often felt like an “ugly duckling”. I knew that I had a good heart and I was intelligent but I didn’t feel pretty. This was probably due to the fact that I was attending a small school and I was a victim of brutal and incessant bullying. Growing up in the decade of the seventies and very early eighties at my school, it seemed you were a nobody if you didn’t wear expensive designer jeans and hang around with “in-crowd”. I didn’t own any designer jeans and no one in the “in-crowd” knew I was alive. I hung out with a tiny group of true friends that were great kids-smart,funny,wonderful and I loved them.We supported each other, which made life at that precious young age a little more bearable. The mid-eighties for me was a time of self-discovery and powerful female artists like Madonna and Cyndi Lauper, whose music I loved. These women weren’t afraid to be who they were and exhibit their own unique styles-which I admired and this encouraged me to think outside the box and not be afraid to express myself.  As the eighties continued, puberty intervened and  I began to grow into the person I was destined to be-my own skin, you might say. I managed to break away from my little hometown for the big city of Boston,Mass. While attending High School in Revere,Mass. (affectionately nicknamed Hollywood High) I actually was told to try out for the cheer leading squad by the team captain, an offer I will always remember.  Imagine the cheerleading captain honestly thought I was pretty enough to be a cheerleader too-it was remarkable to me,considering back in my hometown, I would probably be the last person to ever even slightly be considered to be on the squad. With Love and Hope in my heart, I returned to my hometown to finish out High School and graduate with my small group of  beloved close friends and my Class. The first day I went back to my hometown school, I will never forget one of my classmates saying  “That’s not Carla. She’s too pretty to be Carla!”  Yet it was me!… and in that  moment I realized a valuable lesson in life- You can always change who you are on the outside, but who you are on the inside is ultimately the most important. Don’t ever let anyone or anything stop you from believing in yourself-I didn’t. You can be anything you want to be,if you try hard enough and believe in yourself. My parents and close friends always made me feel good about myself from birth, which allowed my inside to flourish. Then -with a little help from above, a little makeup,a great hairstyle and the right clothes- my outside was able to transform and I discovered that it’s much easier to change your outer appearance than your heart and the full scope of your mind. I fell in love with makeup, hair styling and fashion and decided to pursue a career in  the beauty industry. After over twenty years experience working in the business,I dreamed of sharing my knowledge and doing something on my own.Today I’m a daughter and an aunt to six gorgeous nieces and nephews. Unfortunately, my beloved mother was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimers disease. In addition to being my mom’s caregiver I am a National Alzheimers Disease Research Advocate in hopes of a new and better medicine and/or cure for this wretched illness. Although our great nation has made strides towards progress, there is much more work to be done. A portion of all proceeds earned from this site will go towards fighting Alzheimers Disease in my moms honor, for my dad who has suffered much watching mom with this disease and for the millions of Americans who have the disease and those who care for them. Until Alzheimers Disease is eradicated-there is no end to my fight against it. Last, but not least-being a former victim of bullying, I know the undue and unacceptable pain it can cause. I believe that bullying is unjust and unwarranted and I am adamantly against all forms of bullying cyber or otherwise. I firmly support and believe in treating everyone with respect, honor and dignity. When we treat others as we would like to be treated, we help to make the world a better place.By creating this site,I guess I could also be called an entrepreneur, which makes me feel extremely proud and blessed. Many people have never been taught how to apply makeup or how to dress to accentuate their best attributes and they are not sure where to turn to learn.Everyone should have an easy way to learn so that they have the skills they need to look and feel their best. Therefore, I created Gorgeoussexysmart.com -my “dream come true”…I hope you have enjoyed my site and always remember-No Matter What, Always Believe in Yourself! You are Gorgeous, Sexy and Smart! Go Forward and Conquer The World!

Love and Best Wishes Forever, Carla OX
