Skin Care And Foundation Tips

https://youtu.be/wylO8Rdq7Vk

Your skin is the most important accessory that you wear every day of your life. Make your skin a top priority by using an excellent skin care regimen at least twice daily, morning and night:

{1}Most skincare regimens consist of a minimum of three basic steps which involve cleansing, toning and moisturizing your face.Just like your daily routine of brushing your teeth-Once you get in the habit and routine of caring for your skin,it will become second nature to you!

{2} Pressed for time? Try doing your regimen right in the shower instead of over the sink?

{3}With skin cancer on the increase, protecting yourself by wearing your sunscreen daily is imperative. I am a definite proponent for wearing sunscreen everyday no matter where you are indoors or outdoors and I feel the higher the level sunscreen, the better. Wearing an adequate level sunscreen on your face either alone or under your makeup will help protect your facial skin from the harmful rays of the sun.

{4}SPF15 is generally your basic minimum recommended level of sunscreen when you are indoors. When you are outdoors, even if only for a very brief amount of time, higher than SPF 15 is generally recommended.

{5} UVA rays tend to accelerate aging of the skin. UVB rays tend to burn the skin. Therefore, choose an SPF that offers adequate protection from both UVA rays and UVB rays is recommended.Try several different sunscreens formulas to determine which formula is right for your skin type and personal preference.

{6} Keep a package of facial cleansing wipes handy for those “on-the-go” times when you would like to refresh your makeup but don’t have access to a sink or shower-for example-when you’re on a road trip, camping, jogging etc; facial cleansing wipes are generally not intended to replace your regular facial cleanser but they can be a good alternative in a pinch!

{7}Finding the right skincare line is an important personal experience. Do your research first! Research on the internet, ask questions, speak to the consultants in the stores. Ask for samples to try before you buy read  product reviews and ask other user’s opinion of the line. Once your skin is in the best possible condition, it will make the most gorgeous canvas for your makeup application.

{8}Most skincare lines are dermatologist tested. There are many skincare lines especially made for sensitive skin. If you’re skin is sensitive or you are feeling a little worried about introducing something new, there is something called a skin test that you can do on yourself to make sure you aren’t allergic to any product including sunscreen that you’re thinking about using. A skin test involves choosing a small area somewhere on your skin and applying  a small amount of the product that you’re testing to that area for three consecutive days. After the third day if you haven’t had a reaction, usually that means you’re safe but if you are not sure, check with a dermatologist. If you ever have a reaction to any product such as itching, redness, burning, swelling, hives, throat swelling or irritation, it is recommended that you discontinue use of that product and seek medical attention from your physician right away. Although reactions are generally rare,in my opinion and experience, it’s always better to play it safe, so if you’re unsure of how you will react to any product, I recommend doing the skin test first before you begin using that product.

{9}Having Regular facials done at a salon or spa which include facial massage can help keep your skin looking healthy, vibrant and fresh. Some skincare companies like Shiseido offer and teach facial massage to their clients to promote increased skin vitality and elasticity.

Bonus Tip: To minimize that oily spot on your t-zone, try using an oil-blotting paper.Oil-blotting papers are usually sold in packages that are portable.Take out an oil-blotting paper and look for the powder coated side (Usually the side that looks lighter in color has the powder on it) Powder side down towards you, gently blot the oily spot. Be sure to slowly lift the oil-blotting paper up off your face when you’re done, that way you don’t accidentally disturb your makeup application; oil-blotting papers are disposable.

Here are some foundation tips and techniques that I’ve found helpful over the years:

{1}For a more natural looking finish to your foundation, match the foundation as closely as possible to your own skin tone; For example, if your skin has a rosy undertone,a foundation with a rosy or pink undertone would probably appear the most natural and blend well with your own skin.

{2}You don’t want the foundation to be too light or too dark because that will create a line of demarcation near your jawline and look unnatural and “masky” which isn’t good.

{3}The area that we use in the cosmetic biz to match a foundation to a client’s face is the area at the base of their cheek just above your neckline. We call this area the jawline and the reason we favor it is because that area allows us to compare the foundation to both a person’s facial skin color and tone as well as the color and tone of their neck.

{4}There are many different formulas and types of foundations on the market. Some foundations, which in the cosmetic business are often referred to as treatment foundations, have various added benefits such as vitamins and nutrients to help fight fine lines and other signs of aging.

{5}Personal preference and ease of usage of your foundation should be involved in your buying decision to optimize your comfort level;however keep in mind, cream foundations tend to work better for drier skin types. If the foundation is oil-free and light weight it is usually effective for oilier skin types.Air brush, mousse, whipped, liquid and powder foundations are generally  for any skin types. Keep in mind, you probably want to try the foundation on or try a sample before you invest simply because no two people’s skin are exactly the same and you want to be sure you really are satisfied with the product.

{6}Always blend your foundation well using a makeup brush or sponge to assure a smoother and more flawless finish. Many foundations are formulated with sunscreen in them. If the foundation is formulated with sunscreen in it, usually  it will be specified somewhere on the foundation’s packaging.

{7}Tinted moisturizers tend to provide less coverage than many foundations and can be a good choice if you’re not looking for moderate or full coverage in your makeup  but you still want slight coverage.  A light coverage foundation tends to provide similar or a little more coverage than a tinted moisturizer. A medium coverage foundation tends to give a moderate amount of coverage, where as a full coverage  or maximum coverage foundation tends to offer more coverage than a tinted moisturizer, a light foundation or a moderate coverage foundation.

{8}When applying your foundation, use a sponge or foundation brush to apply it with. Be sure to blend your foundation very well for a smooth, even and polished look.

{9}Layering is a term in the cosmetic business that is used to refer to using a combination of products at the same time-one product over the other; For example: Applying a moisturizer, than a sunscreen ,than a primer, than a foundation over that is considered layering. Don’t feel overwhelmed by the idea of layering because the products and cosmetics that you use should be geared to your own unique individual preference, taste and needs.

{10} You can put together a skincare regimen and makeup routine to be exactly the way you want it to be. You can design and tailor it specifically for you and your own individual needs and preferences.  It should be all about your personal comfort level and lifestyle.

{11}Once again if you have sensitive skin  and you’re feeling unsure you can do a skin test using any product including foundation to test it out and make sure you’re comfortable with it. The skin test procedure for testing a foundation is the same procedure used to test any skincare product-apply a small amount of the foundation to a small area on your skin for three consecutive days(72 hours),if you have no adverse reaction of any kind at the end of the third day, this usually is an indicator that you are not allergic, however if you’re unsure seek the advice of a dermatologist. As with any product, if you have any sort of adverse reaction from the foundation such as irritation, redness, swelling, burning, hives, etc..,it is recommended that you discontinue use of that product and seek the advice of your physician right away.

Bonus Tip:To make your neck appear thinner and help streamline the area below your face, take a bronzing powder and apply it lightly in a  swirling, circular motion, making sure it’s blended well. This type of shading recedes this area and also helps draw the eye to your face. To “glam-up” the same area, dust some shimmer powder over the bronzing powder.
